Christmas 2020 might be very different – but it is still a key season to make Jesus known.
This year we have a great HOPE at Christmas magazine, published in partnership with Hope for Every Home. There’s a children’s booklet with the Happyland characters telling The Christmas Story, plus the fantastic Happyland nativity video. And, as we head into the New Year, we have lots of resources, sermon ideas and invitations to introduce The Wellbeing Journey at your Christmas and New Year events.
HOPE at Christmas magazine
Christmas is a wonderful time to share the joy of Jesus’ birth. Use the HOPE at Christmas magazine as a giveaway with details of your festive events. As always it is packed with features, competitions and giveaways. We meet:
Singing/presenting couple Carrie and David Grant, who look back at 2020 and share their festive plans
Dr Francis Collins, one of the medics looking for a Covid-19 vaccine
Wycombe Wanderers’ popular striker Adebayo Akinfenwa
We also set off on the journey to find the Prince of Peace, with a focus on wellbeing. There are interviews, prizes worth £1500 to be won, and a carols quiz with words of the carols to download from our website hopeforall.org.uk. Why not agree a time with neighbours, print off the carols for everyone and stand on your doorsteps to sing your hearts out in your own Christmas singalong.
We are thrilled that copies of HOPE at Christmas magazine and The Christmas Story will be given away in The Entertainer toy shops in the week before Christmas to help customers appreciate the reason for the season.
The Christmas Story booklet
HOPE Together and Biblica have published an all-new Happyland Christmas Story booklet, which links with the specially-made Happyland nativity animation. Share the animation on social media, in schools and in church service. Give away copies of the booklet , which cost just 30p for orders of 25 or more. You can also download additional resources here.
Wellbeing – a Christmas sermon theme
The Wellbeing Journey is a new 8-part video series, which will be ready for churches to launch at Christmas guest services online or in person. Jesus is ‘the Prince of Wholeness’ as The Message version translates Isaiah 9:6, so we will have Christmas sermon ideas to help churches to invite friends, neighbours and colleagues to join the journey. Local churches are in a unique place to lead communities on this journey to physical, mental and spiritual wellbeing as they offer this practical guide. We hope you and your church will join us on this amazing journey.
Virtual Christmas Carols
Sports Chaplaincy UK, in partnership with HOPE Together, are hosting Virtual Christmas Carols events on YouTube on Tuesday 15 December at 7.30pm and Sunday 20 December at 6.00pm with TV presenter Jay Lusted. Elements of the events will be available for churches to use in their own carol services. Visit their website for more details.
