Messy Church is a church for people at all stages of their faith journey and of any age. Its aim is to introduce people in your communities to Jesus, to give an opportunity to encounter him and grow closer to him. At the heart of Messy Church is a love of Jesus and a chance for everyone at any age a chance to meet him. It is found across the world and its values are about being Christ-centered for all ages, based on creative, hospitality and celebration.
Christ-centered - It is a church not a craft club, that helps people encounter Jesus as Lord and Saviour.
All-Age - It is for adults and children to enjoy together – every element should be relevant and accessible to all ages.
Creativity - It uses hands-on activities to explore Bible stories, to reflect a God of creativity and to give people a chance to play together.
Hospitality - It reflects a God of unconditional love and is a church for people outside church, providing an oasis of welcome and a safe space in which to thrive. Messy church is about hospitality, expressed most evidently by eating together – whether it’s a plate of sandwiches to share, or sausage and mash.
Celebration - It reflects a God of joy who wants his people to have life in all its fullness. Essentially it is a new form of church for children and adults that involves creativity, celebration and hospitality. It’s primarily aimed at people who don’t already belong to another form of church. Its all-age and its fun!

Just a ‘child’? equipping
What would our response be, are they just a child? Many may see them as simply that, waiting in the wings, the ‘church of tomorrow’, sent out so the main thing can take place. Arise Ministries is committed to equipping you in your situation, seeking to meet your needs as you reach out to the children of your community – enabling them to have the opportunity to discover and follow Jesus.
We want to invite you to join us on this adventure, as we seek to help churches think through, recognise and respond to the fact that children can become, be and make disciples, whilst children – being all God calls them to be, today.
Under the Just a ‘child’? banner, Arise Ministries offers a variety of expressions, such as a newly launched course, regional and local Church based conferences, seminars, preaching and unpacking the challenges and opportunities with the whole church. Working to fit the needs of those who will engage in the equipping, we deliver single evening events or mini courses over a series of weeks, day and weekend conferences, plus our new course, that run over 12 months, with three day gatherings throughout.
Issues covered include reaching children with the gospel, mobilising children to share their faith, valuing children, who they are and what they have to say and offer, releasing children to play their part within church today and unpacking what it means for church to be intergenerational.
