Lead Executive Assistant

Responsible to: HOPE for Every Home 
Salary: £21,000 pro-rata
Part-Time: 1.5 days per week (Semi-flexible working schedule, Friday availability preferred)
Based at: Home with occasional trips to London and elsewhere.

Job Summary:   

To give secretarial and administrative assistance to the HOPE for Every Home Project Leader (H4EH). Helping to manage email inbox and the diary for H4EH Project Leader. This position will support resource management, project development and research. Based on the applicant’s skill set, the position may include roles in project assistance. 

Main Duties (i.e. those which occur on a regular or recurring basis)

Office
  • Manage the H4EH inbox, keeping contact details up-to-date and well-organised.
  • Maintenance of database including 'cleansing' - e.g. removing duplications and defunct email addresses etc.
  • Design Support: basic graphic design skills (preferred but not required).
  • Provide computer admin support for the H4EH Project Lead.
HOPE for Every Home Project Assistant
  • To support the diary of the Project Lead, making appointments and organizing travel.
  • Writing emails and reports at the direction of H4EH Project Lead
  • Support with proof reading and editing of H4EH
  • To maintain and update Google Docs and Forms for the Executive Director and H4EH Project Lead.
  • Help to manage events for the project lead and other key groups.
  • To research and resource H4EH projects as directed by the project lead.
  • To be an active team player in HOPE Together where we pray and seek God together.
  • Basic website admin (uploading and editing pages)
  • Creating social media posts and helping curate the HEH social media presence.
  • Digital support for video conference and diary management (Zoom/ Doodle)
Skill Level and Experience required:
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Good written and spoken communication skills.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • A calm and professional manner.
  • Knowledge of local churches, how they work, lead in mission and enable volunteers
  • Excellent computer and administration skills - knowledge of Outlook Office 365, Word, Excel, Zoom, Word Press, Adobe, Google Docs/ Forms, social media platforms and PowerPoint would be an advantage.
  • A flexible and adaptable approach to work.
  • The ability to use your own initiative.
  • Experience of project management. 
  • Good typing skills.
  • Skills in graphics

Job Summary    

Putting faith into words in an accessible and relevant way by researching, writing and producing a biannual magazine.

Main Duties (i.e. those which occur on regular or recurring basis)
To plan and layout the biannual HOPE For All Magazine.
  • To research and write topical, faith-based articles for the magazine for a non-Christian readership.
  • To source photographs and the necessary licences for the magazine.
  • To liaise with writers, designers, proof-readers and others involved in the magazine production process.
  • To be part of the HOPE team, communicating with the rest of the team as necessary to the role and briefing them on the magazine.
  • To work with our designer to turn HOPE For All magazine into digital format suitable for the associated website HOPE For All.
  • To write content for hopeforall.org.uk
There would be opportunities to write, produce and edit other resources for HOPE by agreement.
 

Skill Level and Experience required:

  • Proven experience in identifying a good story.
  • The ability to conduct the research needed for a story.
  • Proven experience in writing for different audiences.
  • Proven experience in putting faith into words in an accessible way that avoids jargon.

Freelance Journalist /Editor


Paid Hourly Based on Experience 

Are you a journalist who wants to use their skills to put faith into words?

HOPE Together is looking for someone with a background in journalism and writing, to produce its biannual HOPE For All magazine. 

HOPE For All is a magazine aimed at a non-Christian audience. Using well-known celebrities and topical issues, HOPE for All builds a bridge to faith in an accessible and jargon-free way. HOPE For all is bought by individual Christians, churches and organisations to give away to non-Christian friends and community contacts. It currently has a circulation of 450,000 per year.

The successful candidate will be someone with an eye for a story and the ability to research and write it in an accessible and engaging way. Ideally, the successful candidate will also have experience in the publishing and printing process.

The magazine is produced twice a year, in readiness for both Easter and Christmas, giving the successful candidate the opportunity to plan and manage their workload at fixed points.

HOPE 2023-24 and Diversity Lead


Reporting to: HOPE YxYA Director (Dan Randall)
Role: Help lead and communicate about HOPE 2023-24 and integrate HOPE Together into the ethnic minority churches
Hours: 15 hours a week (2 days a week)
Salary:   To be decided on the experience of the candidate
Start Date:  June 2022 or sooner

Key Responsibilities:

This role will work with the HOPE Leadership Team in rolling out HOPE 2023-24 via face to face, video and online communication. This person will help forge unity from a broad church spectrum around mission, with HOPE 2023-24 being the vehicle for that initially. Although they will work across the whole church, they will bring a particular gift to help HOPE 23-24 embed in ethnically diverse churches. 

Resources:
  • Weekly check-in with Line Manager to discuss the progress of work and get any help needed.
  • Office use in London and Rugby.
  • Work phone provided if required.

Person Specification

Passionate about Evangelism and reaching people.
The candidate could be an evangelist or do the work of an evangelist. The candidate should have a strong commitment, with an evangelistic emphasis, to everything they do in reaching people and seeing lives change.

1. The candidate must be:
  • Committed to HOPE’s vision
  • Have extensive experience of at least one stream of Ethnic Minority Church and connections within their networks”
  • Enthusiastic and energetic attitude
  • A flexible and proactive approach to work
  • Ability to work on your own initiative and also as part of a team
2. Organised
The successful candidate will be helping to oversee the year of mission ‘HOPE 2023-24’ and be key to facilitating its execution.

The candidate must be able to:
  • Demonstrate good personal organisation and administrative skills.
  • Be self-sufficient and good at taking initiative.
  • Manage their own diary and workload.
  • Good at making decisions and communicating these and their implications with colleagues and the wider team.
  • They should be competent in working with technology and familiar with the Microsoft suite of software. 
  • It is desirable that the successful candidate should have experience in co-ordinating and facilitating large scale programmes, as well as organising teams and volunteers.
3. A team player
The role will fall within the wider vision of HOPE. This person will also be the key link for all youth engagement within HOPE’s wider ongoing programme. For this reason, the successful candidate must be able to work within the wider HOPE team and contribute to and support the other areas of HOPE's ministry and team. They will also need to show that they understand the vision, values and roles of the team and be willing to contribute to the strategic thinking of the team.

4. A gifted communicator and Networker
The candidate needs to show leadership ability in delivering the desired outcomes set by HOPE and the Executive Director to see the development of HOPE 2023-24.

Public speaking and written communication would be helpful.

Work across denominations and agencies and be able to embrace the diversity of the local church in both ethnicities, denominational structure and theological differences.  

Communicate and liaise with organisations and suppliers associated with the projects.
 
5. A committed and Active Christian
The successful candidate will be expected to be a committed and active Christian and part of a local church*. As part of this, candidates must be willing to sign up to the Evangelical Alliance basis of faith statement (which is available at https://www.eauk.org/about-us/basis-of-faith).

They will need to be fully committed to supporting the vision, mission and purpose of HOPE, encouraging mission and evangelism across the church. Personal convictions and values are compatible with the existing leadership.

6. Be connected to an ethnic diverse church denomination with the ability to work cross-culturally with other ethnic minority churches. 

7. Competencies
  • A good sense and understanding of the wider Christian community.
  • Networker into the denominations and agencies, non-prescriptive, but enabling others to buy in and be part of it.
  • Able to command the respect of the denominations and agencies.
  • A clear sense of values, initiative, energy and drive.
8. Knowledge
It would be an advantage if the candidate had some theological training and experience in national ministry.
The candidate should have a working knowledge of the Christian and Charity Sectors.
Experience in social networking would be useful.

9. Management and Accountability
The successful applicant would communicate internally to Executive Director OR YxYA Director and Leadership team and be part of the staff team.  Would be responsible for working alongside the existing leadership team of HOPE and our partners in the coordination and rollout of initiatives over the next 3 years. They would also need to be comfortable in raising support and fundraising for ministry.

Job Summary:   
To give data and systems assistance to the Executive Director and HOPE Team as appropriate. Maintain HOPE Together databases, files and provide monthly statistic analytics. Help to maintain efficient and secure data systems. Help to standardize digital file shortage systems.  

Main Duties ((i.e.) those which occur on a regular or recurring basis)

Database & Office
  • Manage the HOPE database, keeping contact details up-to-date and well-organised.
  • Maintenance of database including 'cleansing' - e.g. removing duplications and defunct email addresses etc.
  • Shop Support: tech and product update support to the Shop Manager.
  • Provide computer admin support for the HOPE office team.
  • Manage and maintain HOPE ‘admin’ e-mail address
  • Provide monthly stats analytics reports for the website, video and social media platforms to Communications Director.
  • Media Storage - keep all media stored and up to date in the correct places and platforms.

Skill Level and Experience required:
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills.
  • Good written and spoken communication skills.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Skilled in orginsation
  • A calm and professional manner.
